  • Oh, by the way

Remember, that news is coming from the Times. Can they even be trusted anymore?

  • Maurice Clarett…

As I’m sure many of you have already heard, there was an article in the NY Times about Maurice Clarett getting special attention because he was an athlete. I don’t think there’s a college with an elite sports program that doesn’t have issues like this. There is also some discussion about Clarett and some possible NCAA rule infraction dealing with something going on with him and LeBron. The link is to the article but you have to register with the NYTimes to read it. (it’s free, they just ask for an email address).

Ohio State to Examine Special Help for Clarett: “Geiger told the newspaper that he did not think the N.C.A.A.’s investigation would lead to Clarett’s losing part of his eligibility for the upcoming season, but added: ‘That doesn’t mean it won’t change. As of now, he’s fine.’ “

Related to this story is that supposedly the teaching assistant who went to the Times is in trouble for not going through the proper channels at the university. It has also been stated the she’s been in an out of mental institutions in the past, for whatever that’s worth.

In the end, I think this will blow over and not leave a scratch on the Buckeye’s rep.

  • Check this out!

This is possibly the coolest thing I’ve seen online in a long time: Ping-pong in the matrix (dead link)

You need to have windows media player to watch it, but it is worth it. Just click the link and click “Open” when the file dialog window opens.

  • Job opportunity!

I have finally seen the fruits of all the time I put in at the career fairs at OSU. As anyone who’s been to a job fair knows, you talk to a recruiter for the particular company, you talk about job openings at their company and they say they “don’t have anything available, but give me your resume and I’ll make sure the people in HR get it. If there’s a match in the future for an opening, we’ll call you. Well, after hearing that same line from tons of different recruiters, today a representative at Lockheed Martin called to set up plans for an interview in the DC/Virginia area. I’m pretty excited about this opportunity, seeing how the job market overall has really slowed down. I’ve been searching for jobs online and submitting my resume left and right so this is definitely a step in the right direction.

The only thing I’m worried about is the fact I don’t remember when was the last time I gave LM my resume. I know I didn’t talk to anyone from there during the last two job fairs, so that means the resume they have is at least a year old and a lot has happened since then. We’ll see how things shape up. I’m just surprised they called!

  • Arcade Classics

Midway is coming out with a sweet new Gamecube game which is a collection of over 20 classic arcade games. I wasn’t too impressed until I read the game list which includes Smash TV. This game will be worth the price alone, everything else is gravy. I don’t know how many times I’ve wanted to play Smash TV, one of my all-time favorite games, but finally, I’m gonna be able to play it. I am pumped!
