  • May Day

Not much going on right now, school is bearing down on me pretty hard, but that’s to be expected. I never thought a class could put such a damper on my ego but my EE832 class has got me pretty stumped. It’s quite possibly the toughest class I’ve had. But I need another 800-level class to finish up, so I gotta get things done. My Thesis is moving along (possibly not at the rate I’d like it to, but it is getting there. Other than that, I’m alive. that’s good enough for me.

Got some new stuff to write about. First off, there’s a website called Where’s George? that has been around a while but I just started using it. It has a cool concept: you enter in the serial number of a dollar bill (or a five, ten, whatever) and it then tracks that bill. If someone else then finds your bill and subsequently enters it into the database you get a ‘hit’. The more bills you enter, the better your chances. Originally they had rubber stamps you could use to stamp your bills with ‘www.wheresgeorge.com’ so others would find the site as well. They no longer sell them, but you could always write the address yourself. If you ever get a bill marked like that, check out the site, it’s pretty cool.

This link is making the rounds in emails and other such places. If you haven’t received an email like this, check it out. Supposedly you can see a ghost image somewhere. iIcan’t see it. They also say if you turn up your speakers you can hear whisperings. I dunno, I can’t hear anything.

Ever since I quit Diablo (and made a few bucks, too) I haven’t played a good RPG. I’ve since got Dungeon Siege. It’s a pretty cool game with some sweet graphics and entertaining game play. The story is weak, but the graphics and everything else makes up for it.

I bought a Diet Coke today for lunch, and as I was walking back to my office I realized there’s no ‘cool’ way to carry a bottle of soda pop. If you grab it by the top in between two fingers it looks really wierd. If you grip it around the neck, your hand is usually too big for it and if you grab it by the body your hand warms it up and it loses its cool (no pun intended). That’s just something I realized today.

  • The Tribe!

Man, the Tribe is on a tear! 11-1 is pretty sweet. A lot of people had them down near the middle of the pack of the Central but they are suprising everyone.

Haven’t done much surfing lately, but I have found a couple cool things, but this (dead link) gets my vote for the biggest bummer of the year. That had to hurt. I always pick up any pennies I see lying around. If some people have their way it won’t do me any good. I figure I’ve picked up a couple of bucks over the past few years on campus. Bending over for a penny is worth it.

Can’t really think of anything else to post, I’m going to bed.

  • Hello out there

Things haven’t been updated here in a while. I’m getting lazy, not too mention busy. Lots of things have happened since I last wrote anything. Christmas has come and gone rather quickly. It’s been nice, though. Greta and I made out well this Christmas. We got a new 27 inch Sony flat screen TV (dead link) from Santa Rice, a JVC digital camcorder from Santa Betts, and a JVC DVD player that we bought for ourselves. Not too shabby.

Along with that, we purchased a new car for me (a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport, pictures to come). we decided not to trade in my Chevy S-10, we’re gonna sell it ourselves. If your interested (or know someone who’s looking for a nice little pick-up truck) take a look here for all the details. I’ve been having a discussion with this guy from the cmh.forsale newsgroup about my asking price. He’s been haggling me over the Kelly Blue Book value. I think everything on my little page there is self explanatory, but he thinks I’m wrong. Whatever.

School is going pretty good, I finally feel like i’m making progress on my Masters Thesis project. Classes are going good, too, so that is always promising. I even get to take a class with my esteemed advisor, Dr. Paul Berger. This is my first 800-level class. One down, one to go!

I’ve found some new fun stuff online. At Launch you can make your own radio station. By rating music, you can filter out the crap and listen to what you like. Sometimes things get kinda warbled with heavy traffic, but for the most part it isn’t a problem. Techbargains.com and Slickdeals.net are two great sites for locating computer hardware/software sales. At half.com I got a 150$ textbook for 80$. Not bad, eh? And for your entertainment pleasure, check this site out. The third one and the last one are my faves. The gun game is fun, too. Sweet stuff!

  • Bellisari, part 2

Well if you haven’t heard already, here is the latest bit of good news for us Buckeye fans. My confindence was finally being restored in the oft’ booed #8 but that all went down the crapper. McMullen my take us to the promised land but I’m not holding my breath. He is untested. Two weeks ago I would have cheered at the prospect of not seeing Steve at the helm. Now I’m not so sure. I thought we had a chance against Illinois. I’m not saying we still don’t because you will never hear me say a disparaging word about my Buckeyes but I think Steve’s absence will be noticed. Did I just say that?

On a lighter note, I’ve been using the peer-to-peer file sharing program KaZaA looking for the MTV commercials with the taxi driver guy. If anyone knows where i can find these commercials (I think they were the best MTV commercials ever) let me know.

  • Pizza’s on its way

I got some coupons in the mail today (nothing big there) but one of them was from Pizza Hut, touting their ‘order online’ trial going on in Columbus. I know that Papa John’s has been doing online ordering for about six months now, along with other food establishments on the web. That is nothing out of the ordinary. It’s actually quite convenient. But what strikes ME as odd is the resemblence to a paper I wrote five years ago for my English 101 class at Cleveland State. In it, I predicted that there would come a time that the web would evolve to the point that if a person didn’t want to, he wouldn’t have to leave his (or her) computer desk. I compared it to the futuristic cartoon “The Jetsons.” I’m not saying I’m some visionary, I just like to toot my own horn. I have seen a lot of business ideas that I have had come to pass during the internet boom. I had the wacky idea of starting a grocery delivery service, as witnessed here and here that someone beat me to. Unfortunately, the idea hasn’t been kind to Pea Pod. If I find the paper, I’ll post it here. I sometimes dream of being a writer. The paper isn’t that great, but my literary skills have improved since then.

I also finally got around to adding a bunch more links. Hopefully they’ll be more to come.
