  • Corinne news

Corinne rolled over all by herself for the first time today! This was a big day! She has been rolling up to one side or the other for a couple weeks now but we couldn’t coax her into making it all the way around, but today, out of the blue she just rolled right over, much to our surprise. It was pretty exciting!

  • Paintballing

I went paintballing today for the first time. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I didn’t take anyone out but I got pegged a handful of times. The getting hit is the worst part. It stings good but a few seconds later you’ve already forgotten where you were hit. I doubt I’ll play much more, it’s a sport like golf where it would be real easy to spend a lot of money buying a nice gun, nice equipment, etc. And since I already play golf, I’ll stick with that. For one thing, I’m a lot better at golf.

  • Site and gaming news

I’ve been busy looking for a new host for my website. Roadrunner gives me 5 MB, which I thought was pretty weak to begin with and I’ve already filled it up, preventing me from posting more pictures. They offer more space at the cost of 1MB for $0.99 /month. That’s not horrible, but I think I could get a better deal by either switching cable companies and going with Wide Open West or find a web host. If I go with WOW, for $59.99 a month, they offer basic cable and 1.5 Mbps cable modem access. That comes with 3 IP addresses and 10 MB of space. That’s decent, but not a lot more than I’ve already got, it would just be cheaper. I’ve found a couple places to host online, I just haven’t decided which way to go yet. If I could find something for less than 30 bucks a year, I’d go the hosting route, that way if and when we move I can maintain all my stuff in one place. I am also changing the name of the site. It’ll no longer be “Nice To Know You”. It’ll be “shimmer”. I’ll explain why the change later, but first I have to think of a cool address. www.shimmer.com, .net, and .org are already taken (obviously) so I have to come up with something clever. We’ll see what happens. I’m busy doing other important things. Sort of.

I say I’m busy with other important things, but the truth is I’ve just been playing Splinter Cell on the Gamecube. It’s a pretty cool game, I know all the Xbox fan boys were wetting their pants over it, but I wouldn’t go that far. The graphics and sound are tight and the control is chunky at first but it’s second nature now. Everyone made a big deal about real-time lighting, which can only be done on the xbox, but I think the graphics look just fine on the Gamecube. There are some spots where there are some clipping problems but they don’t detract from the game. I just think it’s cool to act like a covert ops agent, free to dispose of the bad guys at will. Grabbing someone from behind and forcing their face into a retinal scanner must be pretty fun to do.

  • Lucky man

There are lucky people and there are really lucky people . This guy cheated death seven times! I heard this story on Paul Harvey yesterday and read about it today. When things like that happen to you, you’ve got to think there’s someone looking out for you. Craziness.

  • Commencement

I am posting this a couple days after the fact but graduation was nice. I was not looking forward to the commencement speech since Christopher Reeves isn’t my favorite person but he did a really nice job. I feel bad for hoping for the worse. He left his liberal tendencies at the gate and was even touting morality.

Once I figure out how I’m gonna get more space I’ll post graduation pictures and the new four month pictures of Corinne. Sit tight, I should have things figured out soon.
