  • Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum, Summertime…

The kids sure love the change in seasons. Corinne, Mason, and I went to Hartford for our annual strawberry picking extravaganza. We picked berries to eat, made jam, rode the tractor/haywagon, and enjoyed the four-wheelers. On Saturday, Tony’s family (sans Tony who was having a golf weekend with the guys) came to town for their jam session (ha, ha!) and to ride as well. The kids sure loved all the extra attention! Papa Bill and Grandma Ann found a slide at a garage sale and scooped it up for us. They love it! Mason climbs up there and looks so proud. Corinne uses it to play king of the mountain. Too bad Mason doesn’t know the rules.

We are continuing to fix up our home. We bought a new kitchen table and chairs and set up the old table in the basement to use for crafts, sewing, wrapping gifts, etc. It was pretty hammered and two of the chairs were falling apart. I will paint the old chairs that still have some life in them to match the new set. That way we will finally have enough seating for company. I am currently looking into some more new light fixtures. That is something easy to do and relatively cheap that makes a nice difference. We have done some already, so it’s time for the next batch. My mind swarms with other projects, but I’m trying to take it slow.

Hope all of you out there are enjoying the beginning of summer!

  • New pictures!

We have returned from our latest trip home from Hartford, but unfortunately these pictures are not from that trip. These are from this year’s Easter and a couple from Mason’s 13-month monkey picture. This first picture of the kids will take you to the Easter 2006 set. The others are single pictures of Mason. Enjoy:

Stay tuned for another family update and some site enhancements, as well!

  • Finally!

I finally did it! A little later than I had hoped, but I’ve finished the update of the site and all that goes along with it. All our pictures up to now have been uploaded to Flickr and we can now keep the site up-to-date with all the latest happenings in the Rice family.

I did miss a few pictures over the past couple of months, but those have been updated. One of the big ones I missed was Corinne’s 3-year bunny pictures. You can see them here:

Also, I can finally post the pictures of Corinne and Mason that were taken at Target. If you’ll remember, it didn’t exactly go as planned but we came away with an excellent picture of the kids. Especially of them together. Here are Corinne, Mason, and the two together:

  • The Last Month in Review

So much for writing an update every week.  Lots has happened since last time I wrote.  We took trips home to visit family which is always fun.  The kids love to be spoiled by grandparents with lots of attention and yummy treats!

Mason turned one on March 18th.  As seen by the pictures already posted, he had a tractor/farm themed party.  He most certainly did not disappoint when it came to tearing into his cake.  It was fun for the family to see him after such a long time since our previous visit.  He is walking everywhere and loves to jibber-jabber.

Easter was really fun this year for Corinne.  Tony and I took the kids to an Easter Egg Hunt given by the city.  There were eggs all over the ground.  When the siren rang, Corinne entered the circle daintily and was just looking over the eggs.  I had the camera rolling and had expected her to go crazy over the candy-filled eggs!  When I told her she could pick them up and put them in her pail, she said she only wanted the pink ones!  Ha!  Later we hid the eggs in the yard and decorated some hard-boiled eggs.  Tony’s parents came down to spend the day with us.  It was a nice holiday together.

Yesterday we worked in the yard.  I tore out a bush that was on its last leg and trimmed the others back.  Then we spread ten bags of mulch across the front beds while the kids sat on a blanket and ate frozen pops.  We’ll get to the backyard eventually.  We are still in the planning stages for a new flower bed with a stone wall and a garden back there.

Summer is on the way!  The kids have been enjoying playing at the park and being outside.  We just renewed our zoo membership so we are ready to roll!  Hope you are all having nice weather in your corner of the world!
