As for my favorite cereal, that would be the delicious Chocos. I crave them every morning.

I was pretty depressed yesterday thinking that we weren’t going to see any family this year for Christmas Eve or Christmas. By the time dinner rolled around (egg rolls which may be a permanent tradition…yum!), I was getting into the holiday spirit. We built a fire and sang Christmas carols with the lights out. The kids got on their Christmas jammies just in time for cocoa and some of Santa’s cookies. We also had a family from church stop by to carol us! The kids LOVED that. Christmas morning didn’t come too early (which was my biggest fear) and was enjoyed by all. Mason declared that he “needs more presents!” while Corinne asked if there was anything else to “rip.” Ethan has enjoyed the distraction that the presents have brought. He isn’t getting picked on much today. Here’s a summary by photographs:

The turkey is going into the oven soon. Can’t wait to smell it cooking! All the best to you and yours!

The first is McMenu Madness which showcases some of McDonald’s international menu items, like the Greek Mac (It’s a burger! It’s a gyro! It’s the greatest thing EVER!). I remember the first time I had McDonald’s when I was in Spain. It was in Oviedo and it had been almost two years without Micky Dees. I must say, a quarter pounder never tasted as good as that one did.

Make sure you also check out McMenu Madness, the Americas and McMenu Madness, former menu items. I still remember the MDP (named after former Browns player, Michael Dean Perry) — a triple cheeseburger with a slice of Canadian Bacon. Tasty!

The second link is “Fast Food: Ads vs. Reality” — what you see is hardly ever what you get. That one is kind of a buzz-kill.

And to top off the artery clogging goodness, I present the Hamdog. Not fast food, per se, but right up there. (Picture of the hamdog here)

I have found a recipe that could shake the foundation of the junk food industry forever. I give you: Microwave Potato Chips.

I saw a link to these on a food blog and decided to give them a try. Surprisingly, they actually taste really good. We’ve made them a couple times now, and while they don’t taste exactly like Lays potato chips, they’re pretty darn close. I recommend giving them a try. We cut a piece of parchment paper and put it on the rotating plate in our microwave and nuke them for about 4-5 minutes, just till they start browning in the middle. It takes a little time to make a decent size batch, but they’re worth it. Just make sure you don’t let them get too dark, or they taste bitter. And make sure you season them before you cook them.

Seriously, give them a try.

It’s been quite a while since we’ve had an update, so here’s our Summer 2006 update:

We are having a great summer! The kids are doing lots of fun things: taking care of the garden, playing in the sprinkler, and having a good time with friends/family. The highlight would have to be our trips to the Ohio State Fair. Corinne really loved the rides this year. Mason mostly threw sawdust at the animals, but he made sure to get his share of the milkshake from the dairy barn! The kids have had special trips to both grandparents’ homes without Mom or Dad. Everyone had a good time (despite the early wake up calls by the kids). We also went to Geauga Lake with Papa Bill and Grandma Ann. Abuelita and Papa Tom came later to see the kids play in the water. It was a good time for all!

Here are some pictures of our good times. Click on the picture and it will take you to Flickr to show the whole set of pictures.

If anyone was wondering what Tony’s favorite thing from the State fair, it would easily be “Chicken-on-a-stick”!

This made my day. I love diet Vanilla Coke, but since I prefer Pepsi products over Coke products (I do own stock in Pepsi, afterall) I really wanted Vanilla Pepsi. Well, Pepsi has released Vanilla Pepsi. But they did better than Coke by releasing both regular and diet at the same time. I had to wait forever for diet Vanilla Coke, so releasing both at the same time was great.

I am tasting both of them right now. I must say that Vanilla Pepsi has a very distinct taste. While it does taste delicious, I can’t say it’s better. It has a sweeter taste. Coke’s version tastes more vanillaly. Pepsi’s tastes smoother and a little more pleasant. I like them both.

Now I won’t worry about lining Coca Cola’s pockets because I can by my own version of the beloved vanilla cola. Yum!
