  • Signs you’ve been watching too much Food Network…

Food NetworkA few months ago, Corinne came up to me and said, “I’m Rachel Ray, and I make thirty minute meals. That means, in the time it takes…” If you’ve ever watched Rachel Ray’s show on the Food Network, you’ll know that’s word-for-word the intro. She would say this at random times for weeks.

Last week, while she was saying her night prayers she was thankful that she could watch “Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee.”

Greta mentioned the other day that Corinne has been putting on a cooking show for no one in particular in the toy room. We hope to get it on video eventually.

Finally, today at church, Corinne apparently made “lunch” for everyone in nursery. From what we heard, she laid out quite the spread.

Maybe it’s time we cut back a little on the Food Network.

  • It’s summertime!

    Summertime!
It’s been a while since we’ve posted a picture update, so here are a bunch of new pictures.

First off, I promised a while back shots of our new table. Here they are, with the old table thrown in for comparison:

The girls out in Utah made some snazzy accessories for Corinne and Mason. Corinne got a Princess Apron, which she loves and Mason is jamming in his new Superman costume. Check them out:

  • In Case of Fire

Fire!Today while we were cleaning up the basement, I decided it’d be a good time to test the fire alarms. The one in the basement makes an awfully loud and unpleasant sound, which startled Corinne. Greta and I figured this would be a good time to talk about what to do if the fire alarms were to go off. We explained to Corinne that she should try to find us and we could all get out of the house safely. Then we’d call the firemen.

This seemed to satisfy her, so we asked her to repeat what we should do if the fire alarms go off. She replied that, “we should get out of the house. Then we call God. And he’ll call the firemen to come to our house.”

Indeed, that’s certainly a good plan.

  • Summertime, Summertime, Sum, Sum, Summertime…

The kids sure love the change in seasons. Corinne, Mason, and I went to Hartford for our annual strawberry picking extravaganza. We picked berries to eat, made jam, rode the tractor/haywagon, and enjoyed the four-wheelers. On Saturday, Tony’s family (sans Tony who was having a golf weekend with the guys) came to town for their jam session (ha, ha!) and to ride as well. The kids sure loved all the extra attention! Papa Bill and Grandma Ann found a slide at a garage sale and scooped it up for us. They love it! Mason climbs up there and looks so proud. Corinne uses it to play king of the mountain. Too bad Mason doesn’t know the rules.

We are continuing to fix up our home. We bought a new kitchen table and chairs and set up the old table in the basement to use for crafts, sewing, wrapping gifts, etc. It was pretty hammered and two of the chairs were falling apart. I will paint the old chairs that still have some life in them to match the new set. That way we will finally have enough seating for company. I am currently looking into some more new light fixtures. That is something easy to do and relatively cheap that makes a nice difference. We have done some already, so it’s time for the next batch. My mind swarms with other projects, but I’m trying to take it slow.

Hope all of you out there are enjoying the beginning of summer!

  • Corinne, future supermodel

I forgot to post this earlier, but Corinne was the model for an outfit LeAnn is currently selling on eBay. You can see the auction here. Corinne sure loves her “mija” dress, wearing it whenever she gets a chance!
